Dear Parents and Guardians,

It has been a vibrant and full week in the High School, with so many wonderful moments of learning, creativity, and student leadership on display. I wanted to share a few highlights from across our community:

Discovery Day
This Wednesday, students took part in our High School Discovery Day, a special opportunity to try something new and engage in hands-on explorations. From creative challenges to skill-building workshops, it was a joy to see students learning in fresh and dynamic ways. A huge thank you to our faculty for offering such exciting sessions, and to Ried for coordinating the day so smoothly.

Entrepreneurial Thinking
Students in our Entrepreneurship class stepped into the spotlight with Shark Tank–style pitches, showcasing innovation, problem-solving, and confidence as they presented their ideas.

AP Learning in Action
Across classes, we also saw students applying their knowledge in meaningful ways—most recently our AP Statistics students, who shared real-world data projects that brought math to life in relevant and engaging contexts.

🎭 Tonight: Cabaret!
We are excited for Cabaret Night this evening at 5:30 PM in the FAC. This beloved tradition highlights the incredible artistic and musical talent in our community. We warmly invite parents to join us for what promises to be a beautiful celebration of student creativity.

Thank you, as always, for your partnership and engagement. It is inspiring to see our students grow, challenge themselves, and support one another — and we are grateful to be on this journey with you.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend, and hope to see many of you at Cabaret tonight!

Pathways Series Session 3: Discover Personalized Learning at AISC

Tuesday, November 25 • 5:30–6:45 PM • Madras Hall

We warmly invite you to join us next week for the final session in our AISC Pathways Series, where we will explore Discover Personalized Learning.

This session will help families understand the different ways students can explore their learning interests and passions outside of traditional coursework, and how these experiences fit into our overall High School pathways. We will cover:

  • Diverse Learning Opportunities: Understanding the various methods students use to explore their learning.
  • Connecting Learning to Pathways: Capstone, Career X, Academic PL and Passion Projects
  • Student Agency and Development: Discovering how these learning explorations contribute to future readiness and university applications.

We look forward to wrapping up this successful series with you as we continue to partner in charting your child’s unique journey toward graduation and beyond.

Discover the IB Diploma – Thank you

Thank you to all the parents and students who were able to attend our Pathways Series Session 2: Discover the IB Diploma Program this past Tuesday. The turnout was wonderful, and we truly appreciate your active participation and thoughtful questions. We hope the information provided by Ms. Lisa and the College Counseling team was helpful in clarifying the rigor and opportunities offered by the IB Diploma pathway.

Did you miss the session? Or would you like to review the material? For those who were unable to make it, the full session recording and presentation slides are linked.

HS Band and Choir Concert

Our HS Musicians are very excited to announce our Winter Concert featuring the Symphonic Band and Choir on Thursday, Dec 4th at 5pm in the FAC Theater.  The students will be performing a wide variety of music from classical to pop to movie soundtracks and are sounding fantastic. Thank you for your continued support of our performing arts and we hope to see you there.

Volunteer for a Focus Group – Pathways for Prevention

We are excited to share that the Pathways for Prevention organization will be visiting AISC during the week of January 27-30 to meet with our High School students.

Pathways for Prevention is dedicated to creating a safe and supportive environment. Their work focuses on:

  • Increasing protective factors that reduce the risk of substance misuse.
  • Identifying and addressing factors that increase the risk of substance misuse.
We need your valuable input!

In preparation for their visit, the Pathways for Prevention team would like to meet with a small group of parents to better understand our school and community from your perspective. This vital input will help them tailor their January visit to be as relevant and impactful as possible for our students.

  • What: A virtual focus group meeting with the Pathways for Prevention representative.
  • Duration: Approximately 30-45 minutes.
  • When: Sometime during the week of December 1-5 (virtual meeting)

We are looking for a group of volunteer parents from the High School community to participate.

If you are willing to volunteer your time for this important conversation, please contact Ms. Justyna at the following email mjustyna@aischennai.org

Once we confirm the volunteers, we will work to find a specific time during the week of December 1-5 that works best for the group.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to partner with us in supporting the well-being of our students. Please feel free to reach out to Justyna if you have any questions.

Discovery Day — A Meaningful Day of Learning Beyond the Classroom

This past Wednesday, our high school students participated in Discovery Day, a signature experiential learning opportunity designed to help students develop curiosity, purpose, and a deeper connection to the world around them.

Throughout the day, students engaged in diverse experiences (on and off campus) that encouraged them to step outside their comfort zones, explore personal interests, and deepen their understanding of community and service. From creative and skill-based workshops to service-focused projects, students applied their learning in real-world contexts and built meaningful connections with peers, teachers, and community partners.

Discovery Day is closely tied to our Vision for a Learner, providing students with opportunities to practice the skills we value most:

  • Critical Thinking
  • Collaboration
  • Communication
  • Resilience
  • Digital Navigation
  • Changemaking

We hope your child came home energized and full of reflections. If you have a moment, we encourage you to ask them about what they discovered; about the world, about others, and about themselves.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership as we continue to create learning experiences that challenge, inspire, and empower our students.

Have a good weekend
