Dear Parents,

As we wrap up Discover India Week, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you for your support. We hope your children had a memorable and enriching experience—whether they were exploring far corners of India or engaging more locally here in Chennai. These trips are such an important part of our program, and we are grateful for your partnership in making them possible.

As we head into the October Break, I wish you and your family a safe and restful holiday. Looking ahead, we have much to look forward to when we return: upcoming Parent Coffees (more details below), Mid-Term Progress Reports, and our Student-Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Have a restful fall break!

High School Pathways & Programs Survey

We would love to hear from more of you! As part of our inquiry into high school pathways and course offerings, we are gathering parent feedback to help us better understand how well our programs serve the full range of learners, support students in making purposeful choices, and prepare them for future opportunities.

This short survey (about 5 minutes) will give us valuable insight into what is working well and where we might strengthen our support for students and families.

👉 HERE is the link to our survey. Thank you in advance for sharing your perspective—it truly helps shape the future of our program.

Upcoming HS Parent Coffee: Standards-Based Assessment & Reporting

We warmly invite all HS parents—especially those who are new to the school or to the High School—to join us for our next HS Parent Coffee on Tuesday, October 7, at 8:45 a.m. in the Madras Hall.

This session will focus on Standards-Based Assessment and Reporting (SBAR) in the High School. We know this approach to feedback and grading can feel different from more traditional systems, and we look forward to sharing how it works at AISC and what it means for your child’s learning. For those unable to attend in person, a video recording and the presentation slides will be shared afterwards.

MAP Parent Coffee & Reports

Thank you to those who joined our Parent Coffee on Tuesday, September 23, where the Secondary Team shared insights into MAP testing (Measures of Academic Progress)—what it is, how it works, and how we use the results to support student learning.

For families with students in Grades 9 and 10, MAP reports will be shared in October along with the Mid-Term Progress Update.

If you were unable to attend, we’re sharing both the MAP Session video and the slides from the presentation so you can review the information at your convenience.

Mark Your Calendars: Progress Reports, Conferences & Celebration of Learning
  • Progress Reports
Mid-semester Progress Reports will be published on Thursday, October 17. These reports provide a snapshot of your child’s learning and are designed to support conversations about growth and next steps.
  • Student-Led Parent-Teacher Conferences
We look forward to welcoming you for conferences later in the month:
    • Wednesday, October 22 – Drop-in conferences from 3:00–5:00 p.m.
    • Thursday, October 23 – Scheduled 10-minute conferences (by appointment).

The High School will share the conference sign-up app link on Friday, October 10.

Celebration of Learning – October 23

We are excited to share that our next Celebration of Learning will take place on Thursday, October 23. This event is a wonderful opportunity to honor and showcase the work of students who have been nominated by their teachers across different subjects.

The Celebration of Learning will be scheduled as a break within the Parent-Teacher Conference day, giving families a chance to pause and celebrate student achievement together. More details will be shared with students and parents shortly after the October Break.

Library Updates

We’re pleased to share the latest newsletter from our Library Team, highlighting new resources, programs, and upcoming opportunities for students and families. 👉 Newsletter . A big thank you to our librarians for the many ways they support a culture of reading and learning in our community!

Have a good weekend!
