On Thursday, September 14th, the Community Planning Team reconvened to begin our annual review of AISC Futures Planning. We spent some time remembering what it is like to inhabit a “futures thinking” mindset. Head of School Leigh Fitzgerald led us through some engaging exercises to focus on the wider forces that shape our future and how we build that into the planning process.
This year we welcomed our faculty Council Leaders to the group. These faculty volunteers drive four core strategic pathways, implementing action plans and facilitating committees along the way. They were able to host short discussions with CPT members on the big goals that Councils have for the year. The four Council Leaders are Remy Liotard (Research & Development), Kieara Reed (Diversity & Equity), Shari Abbott (Wellbeing), and Asta Reiff (Intercultural Competence). Thanks to those teachers for their time and expertise. Leigh and Curriculum Director Mary Kelly were also on hand to discuss the Artificial Intelligence Task Force and progress we’ve made toward our Middle States Association goals.

The final section of the meeting was the most fun, frankly, because it involved generating new ideas, combining perspectives from the diverse set of people in the room, and surfacing potential new strategic pathways. The creative work we did will inform ongoing Leadership Team discussions as we develop the Futures Plan for upcoming years.
