On September 15, 2022 the Community Planning Team met for our first work session of the year to review our Futures Plan goals, learn about the history of strategic planning at AISC, and consider ways that we will continually re-commit to diversity in our work. A big thank you to Sherene Williams and Vijayalakshmi Shanmugam for their help putting together this wonderful event! We welcomed seven new members (indicated below). The team reviewed a historical timeline of strategic planning at our school with a focus on finding the threads we have followed in the past decade, how the past has informed the present, and where we are going next. Being able to visually track the work we have done over the years to get where we are, and how adaptable we have been in recent years especially, was a powerful way to locate ourselves in relation to the strategies we are engaged with for the next three years.

In round-robin style, CPT members heard presentations from the major strategic pathway owners from the school leadership team, outlining the goals we committed to last year and entertaining discussions and clarifications along the way.

Mary Kelly Bello led us through the past, present, and future of the school’s work toward meeting goals outlined in the accreditation process, which we refer to as the “MSA Goals”. These were defined during the Middle States Accreditation process as a way of re-investing in continual school improvement. As a reminder, the MSA Goals are:
Student Performance Objective: By 2028, AISC students will demonstrate increased growth rates in reading as measured by WIDA, MAP and Fountas & Pinnell.
Student Performance Objective: By 2028, AISC students will demonstrate increased growth rates in writing as measured by WIDA and MAP.
Organizational Capacity Objective: By 2028, AISC will support faculty wellbeing that empowers community members to engage and flourish professionally as measured by Gallup Q12.
Finally, the team used our Vision for a Learner traits to think more deeply about the ways that diverse perspectives, even when they do not necessarily overlap perfectly, are important to enrich a unified vision for who we are and what we value.
